About Us

Mountain Life began as a way to bring passion for nature and all things natural to the public. The store of Mountain Life allows people to buy herbs, sustainable and organic products.

Mountain Life Retreat is an extension of that passion. It is a 35 acre campground situated 2 miles from Desoto State Park on Straight Creek on the beautiful Lookout Mountain. Soon Mountain Life Retreat will be hosting educational events for nature lovers, herbalists, families and those who want to know about survival allowing the land to provide food, shelter, warmth and medicines.

Mountain Life storefront is located in the heart of Mentone. Mentone is a quaint historic town on Lookout Mountain in Alabama. The town of Mentone is a town that is conducive to a simple lifestyle.
It is a great place to relax and experience nature. Mountain Life is about 8 miles from Desoto State Park and 3 miles from Desoto Falls. If you are visiting the area please stop by on the weekends.

Mountain Life is open sometimes on weekdays but those are not regular store hours. We are proud of our summer camp population and that is  when you may find us open during the week or on delivery days or other special days.

Please email me to set up a time to come in the store should you be coming through with a big group, if you want to experience the store when I am not regularly open or if you would like to set up a time for a consultation.

Fall & Winter- After Time Change
Mountain Life usually closes the store front after the New Years Holidays though sometimes opens on warmer weekend days. We are also closed on Fridays when the weather is cold, rainy & blustery.

12 PM - 4 PM Sunday

Store reopens with normal spring hours during the first weekend of May.
Please understand that Mentone operates different from most towns in the United States, or the world for that matter. Most of the stores do not operate on rigid hours and most people operate on their own time. The stores of Mentone are the people of Mentone so please be forgiving if you come to our great town and find no one or not much open on the weekdays and sometimes even the weekends. Winter on the mountain can be strong for Alabama weather. Most of the stores are historic buildings and difficult to heat to make bearable for the customers or the guests of our beautiful town of Mentone!
